Yacht Pipit

Up the Crac'h, 7th September 2010

The Crac'h Estuary, that is, and specifically La Trinite-Sur-Mer, but that's not such a funny heading... We left Port Louis on Friday morning, and once again had a good sail until the wind dropped and we had to motor, although the wind did return sporadically so we could sail some of the time. The Teignouse Passage proved to be no trouble as the seas and wind were calm, and we arrived on the visitor's pontoon mid-afternoon. The sun was out and it was warm - the warmest since Cherbourg in June in fact. There was a summer festival on all weekend, based around yacht racing, particularly enormous multihulls, one of which we had 'raced' from Port Louis. We came second, since you asked... There were also some traditional boats and older racing yachts, including Pen Duick II.

We raced this one...

Pen Duick II.

Compare and contrast...

And again.

Ah Mr Bond, we've been expecting you...

On balance, all things considered, I think I prefered my Range Rover...

Ty Guard - built entirely of stone (including the stepped roof), previously a shelter for Customs Officers policing Quiberon Bay.

The parting of the waves...

Leaving so soon, Mr Bond?
