Was it George Bush who said the French don't have a word for entrepreneur? We think they do...

Embracing the true liveaboard attitude of enjoying every opportunity that comes along, we accepted the kind invitation from John Kibble to join an excursion he had organised as part of the Northney Marina Rally. We travelled by coach across the countryside and back out to the coast to enjoy the panoramic views from La Pernelle, overlooking Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue (coincidentally our next port of call) and the WW2 beaches of Normandy. We then went to the village of Le Vast where the proprietor of a wine cave had prepared a wonderful lunch for us of regional specialities - a first course of deep fried moules followed by delectably tender salt marsh lamb roasted on a spit and accompanied by frites. An intermediary cheese course then a wonderful strawberry tart (Ann was assured it was the low-calorie version, although perhaps we got the French translation wrong?), all washed down with a lovely array of wines to taste completing a fabulous lunch. We bought a few bottles of a couple of the white wines we particularly enjoyed, one of which reminded us of an English wine with its lovely refreshing elderflower flavours. Oh, and we nearly forgot to mention, our lunch was preceded by a champagne reception courtesy of MDL Marinas! Those friends who know MDL at QAB will appreciate this payback we received! Thank you though, MDL.

John had done a great job of organising the day and went to every effort to ensure that everyone enjoyed themselves - it's no wonder he is continually asked to organise such rallies and events! He and the whole of the rally gang made us feel very welcome and we were even presented, along with a few other "virgin" Channel crossers, with a bottle of champagne! Thank you again John and the rest of the rally!

Looking the wrong way at the panoramic view from La Pernelle...

Lunch cooking.

Thank you MDL.

This was just to load the coach...

Cock!

Unloading the booty - not all of it ours...
